Advisory Board

Dr. Ken Rosenthal, Ph.D.
Dr. Rosenthal is the President of the Canadian Association for HIV Research, and also leads HIV/AIDS research at McMaster University, Hamilton. Ken provides technical advise on wide range of issues related to HIV / AIDS.

Dr. Anne-Marie Zajdlik, M.D.
Dr. Zajdlik is the founder of the Masai Centre for Local, Regional and Global Health, which offers holistic treatment for those living with HIV/AIDS. Anne-Marie also practices family medicine in Guelph, Ontario.

Dr. Jamie Dunn, Ph.D.
Dr. Dunn was former Vice-President of R&D at Visible Genetics, which developed the first FDA-approved HIV antiviral genotyping test. Jamie -- who has over over two-dozen patents issued by the USPTO -- consults with SDC on a variety of scientific and regulatory issues.

Ed King, LL.B.
Mr. King is President of AMR Consulting, and works with a variety of clients in the healthcare and not-for-profit sectors. Ed was a Director at Walgreens for 27 years, during which time he was heavily involved with Walgreen's progressive pharmacy delivery and community outreach initiatives.

Mr. Bruno Maruzzo, MBA, M.A.Sc.
Mr. Maruzzo, who currently leads Chondrogene's corporate development activities, has been a key driver behind a variety of innovative life sciences and technology companies over the past twenty years, including Visible Genetics and Murex. Bruno, who is extremely active in the Toronto-area biotech community, assists SDC with corporate strategy.

Dr. Ross Hallett, Ph.D.
Dr. Hallett recently retired from the Department of Physics, University of Guelph, where he developed the technique of light scattering from biological cells. Ross provides advise on the technical aspects of biophysical processes.

Aidan Furlong P.Eng., MBA
Mr. Furlong has been active in the management of technology companies for over twenty years. Aidan was a founder and President of CME Telemetrix, a Waterloo-based medical instrumentation company involved in the development and sale of systems for medical monitoring and diagnosis. Aidan functions in an industry advisor role for SDC.

Joe Mattes, LL.B.
Mr Mattes has practiced corporate and commercial law in the City of Waterloo since 1986. Joe is a graduate of the University of Toronto, and studied law at the University of Western Ontario. Joe assists SDC with legal and IP strategy.

Dr. Saeid Babaei, Ph.D., MBA
Dr. Babaei is the Associate Director of Corporate Affairs at Lorus Therapeutics. Prior to Lorus, he was the Director of Business Development at Northern Therapeutics. Dr. Babaei has authored over 50 refereed scientific papers, conference presentations and patents. He currently serves as a member of Board of Directors for a number of non-for-profit organizations and also sits on a number of advisory committees in the Life Sciences sector.
